7th Street Corridor

Spanning from Pleasant Valley to Chicon, the 7th Street Corridor Project acts as a Gateway to the city from the new Austin-Bergstrom airport. The overall corridor hardscape scheme highlights the intersections with vehicular pavers, provides a bold paver pattern on pedestrian crosswalks to increase safety, and offers enlarged pedestrian landing areas. Where possible, trees provide shade for the pedestrian. Seven “Obeliscos”, tall columnar elements, provide a frame for public art.

At Pleasant Valley the Gateway theme is highlighted with a 9’ x 35’ metal trellis screen, curvilinear, tiled planters, and accent plants. New Capital Metro bus shelters will provide an amenity for transit users. The 7th Street Corridor project is now in the works with a projected completion date of 2011.
