In The Works

North Central Community Health Center (Rendering from Lawrence Group)

The new 7 acre North Central Community Health Center (NCCHC) located on Braker Lane will be a prominent example of the sensitive siting of building and parking within an urban forest of existing live oaks. The team worked with the City of Austin arborist to preserve the large Heritage and Protected trees on the site. A unique solution to tree preservation separates the water quality pond from the detention pond with a natural area of existing trees and prairie. At the rear of the property over one acre will be preserved as an undisturbed natural area.

The design also responds to the COA Commercial Design Standards along Braker Lane and Parkfield Drive with rows of Monterrey Oaks and Chinquapin Oaks for sidewalk shading. The plant palette will include native and adapted Central Texas plants that minimize water use. Drip irrigation will be used in all bed areas. The project is aiming for LEED Silver.
